UF Campus Visit of Imagining America Co-Directors, Dr. Tim Eatman and Dr. Scott Peters

November 2-3, 2015

Directors Reflection TreeThe UF Imagining America Working Group hosted a visit from Prof. Scott Peters and Prof. Tim Eatman, Faculty Co-Directors of Imagining America (IA), on November 2-3, 2015. Through funding by the Office of the Provost, UF has been an IA member for the past 6 years. IA@UF has drawn on IA’s professional networks, published research, and conferences to innovate engaged scholarship. Peters’ and Eatman’s visit to UF served as an external assessment of these developments, and an opportunity for deliberative planning of next steps. The visit included a gathering of 12 graduate students to discuss their experiences with the challenges and rewards of pursuing public scholarship; an administrative strategy meeting with 9 deans and senior-level faculty and administrators about how to support high-impact teaching and research in arts, humanities, and design; The Work of Imagining Lecture public lecture on the importance of collective storytelling in the University Auditorium; a Faculty/Staff Engagement Brainstorming Workshop in cultural organizing; and ongoing harvesting of responses to the question:   “What is public about the arts, humanities, and design?” displayed on the IA Tree of Reflection.

A detailed report on their visit is available at: Imagining America at UF (2015).
